Jett's Day 9: Million Dollar Highway to Silverton

We shopped for a few hours in Ouray before taking the, uh "challenging", Million Dollar Highway to Silverton. Some places had no guardrails ... and straight cliffs below!

However, we found a very nice place to stay in Silverton and Jett was greeted by the co-owner, Mocha!

Mocha is a very friendly dog, but there's a rumor going around that she likes to snatch rolled up socks!

A permanent boarder, who wanted some scritches (as yet unidentified by name)

Another boarder, very skittish and still unidentified by name.

This was our motel in Ouray. We stayed there two nights.

What a find! I only had 2 minor complaints (no elevator and small bathroom) but the amenities more than made up for those. (Great free breakfast buffet, hot springs tub, and a bathrobe to use)

Tempted to buy this shirt but decided on another,

Jett didn't eat breakfast so we stopped for an early lunch, They had mac and cheese and chocolate milk.

Again, tempted to buy,  If it had only been a little cheaper.

Spotted this waterfall.

Jett and Paul patiently waiting for me to come back from another shop.

Found this in a Meat and Cheese shop. The meats included elk, bison, venison, etc.

So here comes the challenge -- The Million Dollar Highway.

If you look closely about a third the way over from the left, and about half way down, you will see a group of people on these rocks. I have no idea how they got there, but the more important question for me is WHY??? This is a scene from one of my nightmares! LOL.

This will be our home for two days. It was built in 1898 and opened as a "decent" house in 1902. It is well kept (as you will see). The current owners, Mike and Mikki, are really nice people.

Our room sleeps 3.

Fancy schmancy.

Jett figured  how to turn on the fireplace/heater, then promptly turned it off. They like cold rooms (as does Paul). Fortunately for me there was a fur blanket on the bed.

The hat I wore in a previous FB post. Part of the room decor.

Jett's cozy corner.

Main street Silverton. One paved road.

Our dinner choice (tribute to Pop Pop, my dad)

Ribeye again! This child is a meat and potatoes person!

The decor.

Walking back to the hotel.

Back to the Alma House. We slipped down to the sitting/dining room so I could work on this blog and give Jett some privacy time on the phone with her mom.

Some very soft music was playing on this radio.

The library.

And so we close our day with a cozy hour with a fire going and music playing. Ahhhh.
