Jett's Day 5: Deja vu: Mt Evans

A preview of the highlight of our day,

It was a very pretty day when we woke up. Since our hotel did not provide breakfast, we found a place up the road that served something we could all eat.

Another place with a funky vibe (just for Jett).

Chocolate syrup and Funko Roger Taylor.

Snoop Dogg wearing ski glasses. The restaurant had a bunch of celebrities painted in this style. I identified Freddie Mercury, David Bowie, Jerry Garcia, and Bob Dylan. Music was eclectic -- a lot of 70s, 80s, and 90s.

A last look at Winter Park as we head south. Note the beautiful sky.

A typical scene on the road.

Note how close the rocky terrain is to the road.

Temperature at the top: 33ยบ

My only photo of wildlife.  A marmot.  There was another one on the other side of the car. I think Jett got a photo of that one. I also saw what I think was a pika scooting across the road. Other than a couple birds, that's all we saw. And as you continue to scroll, you'll see why.

Frozen tundra behind us. Jett loves to see and say "tundra".

Parking lot. That's our car with door open.

Jett decided to take this path through the snow.

"Look at this wonderland" (not an exact quote).

Never saw either. Sad face.

Panorama of the "Top of the Rockies."

Absolutely love this photo! Snowflakes all around! They were so happy!

I didn't get sick this time, but the first time we came (35 years ago), I did.

Packing a snowball.

Got down safely and ate lunch in Idaho Springs.

Our view from our hotel in Silverthorne.

16 oz ribeye -- they ate every bit of it.

Lake Dillon

Marina at Lake Dillon.

We are now ensconced in our hotel and resting up for our trip to Aspen. We will be driving through Independence Pass so will probably see more snow!!
