A day of travel! We saw a lot of this.

We started in Aspen for our 4 hour drive to Ouray. Unfortunately one of the roads we had planned to take was closed due to a massive sinkhole caused by flash flooding. So we took a detour that added a few miles to the trip.

We stopped for breakfast here since there were no fast food places for at least an hour. It was pretty good. Just a plain restaurant, no decor but simple and you could help yourself to coffee and water as you wished (no waiting on the server). I had a cheese blintz that was great!

Spotted this at a roundabout (there are quite a few)

What diverse landscapes!

Rifle, CO. Cristo actually installed one of his art pieces here -- a large orange drape in Rifle Gap.

We rolled into Ouray during a shower. As soon as we got settled, we went to retrieve our jeep for tomorrow's 4-wheeling ride. Unfortunately Imogene Pass is closed so we'll have to take some lower routes.

Had to climb these steep stairs to our room. Reminder: Always ask for a ground room if there is no elevator.

I've been wanting Mexican (even though I can't eat much) so we drove here.

I ordered two tacos and Jett had that Mexican specialty -- a plain cheeseburger.

The only picture of them all day. And I had to sneak this one,

After dinner, Paul and I went soaking in the hot springs. There are several hot tubs or you can sit in one of two pools (and fend off the kiddies). Hope Jett will join us tomorrow.

After soaking, we went into the "vapor cave" (aka steam room in the rocks). I couldn't stay long.

And so we are headed to sleep. It should be a fun-filled day and I hope to get more photos of Jett!
