A Lucky Friday the 13th
After many stops and starts, false alarm, dehydration and blood pressure issues, Granddaughter #2 arrived on Friday the 13th at 4:53 p.m. at 22 inches and 7 pounds 11 ounces.
Apparently she was born with the cord wrapped around her neck twice and wasn't breathing right away, but the doctors had no problem getting her to respond. But Daddy didn't get to cut the cord on this one.
Gee Gee (great grandma) had to watch the kids in the morning and take the older 2 to school. She watched Grandson#1 all day who was very good for her. Then I came to get them and picked up their big brother around 4:00. While waiting for him, I texted my son to see what was going on. He said they were playing the waiting game. Well, as you can see by her birth time, it wasn't long afterwards!
I was sitting in the driveway watching the little ones hunting frogs when I got the message! I yelled, "She's here" to them and the neighbor across the street knew what I meant! Big brother was excited, but the other two were still more concerned about chasing frogs. We finally got them changed and stopped for dinner on the way to the hospital. Made it there about 7:30 (visiting hours close at 8:00). I think the 3 year old grandson fell instantly in love! He couldn't keep his eyes off of her.
Biggest brother said he had been practicing singing Nickelodeon tunes to sing to her. When littler grandson heard that, he turned to his little sister and softly began singing his favorite song ... "Jingle Bells." It was a sweet moment.
Big sister was proud, too, and insisted on holding her little sister. But when little sister cried, Big Sister has to put her fingers in her ears. She certainly doesn't like loud noises!
We will visit her again in the morning. I think she will be coming home tomorrow.
Thank you, Lord, for all your blessings.
